Currently patients walk great distances to reach the CME facility in search of adequate health care.
Over the next decade road improvements will provide easier travel routes for a southern population of over two million (2M) people. As such, the demand for medical services at CME will increase exponentially resulting in excessive strain on the facility. At present, there are no other facilities in that region to support the demand for minimum health care needs.
Notably, the southern population of Haiti is economically marginalized. Living is at a subsistence level; the majority of which are women who tend to be the central cohesive source of family structure in Haiti.
